A quick and comforting pasta dish with savory sausage and creamy Alfredo sauce, perfect for cozy dinners or gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz fettuccine or your favorite pasta
  • 1 lb Italian sausage, sliced or crumbled
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 ½ cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • Optional: a pinch of nutmeg
  • Optional garnish: Fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the fettuccine and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water before draining, then set the pasta aside.
  2. While the pasta cooks, heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sausage and cook until browned and cooked through, breaking it into smaller pieces with a wooden spoon as it cooks. Remove the sausage from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, until fragrant.
  4. Lower the heat and pour in the heavy cream, stirring gently to combine. Simmer for 2-3 minutes, letting the sauce thicken slightly.
  5. Add the Parmesan cheese gradually, whisking constantly until melted and smooth. Season the sauce with salt, black pepper, and nutmeg if using.
  6. Return the cooked sausage to the skillet and stir to coat it in the Alfredo sauce.
  7. Add the drained pasta to the skillet, tossing gently to combine. If the sauce is too thick, add reserved pasta water a little at a time until you reach your desired consistency.
  8. Serve immediately, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.
