Instructions

  1. Rinse 1 pound of Brussels sprouts, trim the stem ends, and halve them lengthwise. For larger sprouts, consider quartering them for even crisping.
  2. Toast 1/3 cup raw almonds in a dry skillet over medium heat, stirring frequently, until fragrant and golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the halved Brussels sprouts, toasted almonds, 2 tablespoons olive oil, 1 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes, and optional 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder. Toss well until evenly coated.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 3 minutes.
  5. Place the Brussels sprouts mixture in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook at 375°F for 12-15 minutes, shaking or tossing halfway through to promote even browning.
  6. After 12 minutes, check for tenderness and crispness. If needed, air fry for an additional 2-3 minutes, watching closely to avoid burning.
  7. Transfer to a serving dish and sprinkle extra chili flakes or almonds on top if desired. Serve immediately.
