A quick and easy recipe for crispy chicken parmesan made healthier using an air fryer. Perfect for busy weeknights or casual dinner parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup seasoned Italian breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Olive oil spray
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Use a meat mallet to pound the chicken breasts to an even thickness of about ½ inch. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
  2. Set up the breading station with three bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with a mixture of breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese.
  3. Dredge each chicken breast in the flour, shake off excess, dip into the egg wash, and coat generously in the breadcrumb mixture.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 3 minutes.
  5. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with olive oil spray. Place the breaded chicken in a single layer, leaving space between each piece. Spray the tops of the chicken with olive oil spray. Air fry for 10 minutes.
  6. Flip the chicken breasts using tongs and top each piece with marinara sauce and shredded mozzarella cheese. Air fry for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) and the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  7. Remove the chicken from the air fryer and let it rest for 2 minutes. Sprinkle with fresh basil before serving.
