A quick and easy recipe for crispy, juicy chicken wings cooked directly from frozen in the air fryer, delivering deep-fried crunch without the mess.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds frozen chicken wings (skin on)
  • 1 tablespoon aluminum-free baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional but recommended)
  • Cooking spray or oil (preferably avocado oil spray)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
  2. Place the frozen chicken wings in a large mixing bowl; no need to thaw.
  3. In a small bowl, combine baking powder, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika.
  4. Sprinkle the seasoning mixture evenly over the wings and toss thoroughly to coat each piece.
  5. Arrange the wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket, avoiding overcrowding.
  6. Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 25-30 minutes, flipping the wings halfway through at 12-15 minutes.
  7. Check that the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). For extra crispiness, cook 3-5 minutes longer, watching carefully to avoid burning.
  8. Optionally, toss the cooked wings in your favorite sauce immediately after cooking or serve plain.

Notes

Preheat the air fryer for best crispiness. Avoid overcrowding the basket to prevent soggy wings. Use aluminum-free baking powder to avoid metallic taste. Let wings rest on a wire rack for 5 minutes after cooking for extra crispiness. Reheat leftovers in the air fryer at 375°F for 5-7 minutes to restore crispiness. Avoid microwaving to prevent sogginess.
