A quick and easy air fryer salmon recipe featuring crispy skin and a sweet, savory honey garlic glaze. Perfect for busy weeknights or impressing guests with minimal effort.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Salmon fillets, skin-on, about 6 ounces (170 grams) each
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar or rice vinegar
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Fresh lemon juice, for finishing

Instructions

  1. Pat each 6-ounce salmon fillet dry with paper towels to ensure crispy skin.
  2. Brush both sides lightly with about 1 tablespoon olive oil.
  3. Season generously with salt and black pepper on both sides.
  4. Let rest for 5 minutes while preparing the glaze.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together 3 tablespoons honey, 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce, 2 cloves minced garlic, 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar, and a pinch of red pepper flakes if desired.
  6. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3-5 minutes.
  7. Place salmon fillets skin-side down in the air fryer basket without overlapping.
  8. Cook for 8-10 minutes depending on thickness (about 9 minutes for 1-inch thick fillets). Avoid flipping.
  9. About 2 minutes before cooking is done, brush the honey garlic glaze generously over the tops of the fillets.
  10. Return to the air fryer for the remaining time to let the glaze caramelize without burning.
  11. Check for doneness; salmon should flake easily with a fork and have crisp, golden skin.
  12. Remove from air fryer and squeeze fresh lemon juice on top before serving.

Notes

Pat salmon dry thoroughly to ensure crispy skin. Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket for even cooking. Apply glaze near the end to prevent burning. Let salmon rest a couple of minutes after cooking to lock in juices. For gluten-free, use tamari instead of soy sauce. If no air fryer, bake at 425°F (220°C) and broil last 2-3 minutes to crisp skin.
