A quick and easy recipe for crispy, garlicky, and cheesy chicken thighs cooked in the air fryer, perfect for busy weeknights or casual get-togethers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs (about 1.5 lbs / 680g)
  • ⅓ cup grated parmesan cheese (about 30g)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels to remove moisture for crispier skin.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine olive oil or melted butter with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper; whisk until well blended.
  3. Add the chicken thighs to the bowl and toss thoroughly to coat each piece evenly.
  4. Sprinkle the grated parmesan cheese over the coated chicken, pressing lightly so it adheres.
  5. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  6. Place the chicken thighs skin-side down in the air fryer basket without overlapping.
  7. Cook at 400°F (200°C) for 10 minutes.
  8. Flip the thighs skin-side up using tongs and continue cooking for another 8-10 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the skin is golden and crispy.
  9. Remove the chicken and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
  10. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve hot.

Notes

Pat chicken dry before seasoning for best crispiness. Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket. Flip chicken halfway through cooking. Use an instant-read thermometer to check doneness. Let chicken rest before serving. To prevent parmesan from burning, lower temperature or tent with foil if needed.
