A warm, gooey dessert with spiced apples, caramel, and buttery cake topping, perfect for fall gatherings or cozy nights in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cans (21 ounces each) apple pie filling
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 box (15.25 ounces) yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Lightly grease the inside of your slow cooker with nonstick spray.
  2. Pour the apple pie filling into the bottom of the crockpot and spread it out evenly.
  3. Sprinkle the cinnamon evenly over the apple filling.
  4. Pour the caramel sauce over the apple mixture, ensuring it’s distributed evenly.
  5. Sprinkle the cake mix directly over the apples and caramel. Do not stir.
  6. Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the cake mix, covering as much of the surface as possible.
  7. Sprinkle chopped pecans over the buttered cake mix for added crunch (optional).
  8. Cover the crockpot and cook on high for 2-3 hours or on low for 4-5 hours, until the topping is golden brown and cooked through.
  9. Scoop into bowls and serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.

Notes

For a gluten-free version, use a gluten-free cake mix. Add nutmeg or cloves for extra spice. If dry spots appear on the topping, drizzle more melted butter.
