  • 2 cups rice cereal squares (like Chex)
  • 1 cup mini pretzels
  • 1 cup roasted unsalted almonds
  • 1 cup roasted unsalted cashews
  • 1 cup sesame sticks (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon coconut sugar (optional)
  • 1/4 cup dried cranberries or raisins (optional)
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened coconut flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Measure out all dry ingredients and set aside. If toasting nuts or coconut flakes, do so in a dry skillet over medium heat for 3-5 minutes until fragrant, stirring often.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, gently combine rice cereal squares, pretzels, almonds, cashews, and sesame sticks.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, sea salt, black pepper, and coconut sugar until well combined.
  4. Drizzle the seasoning mixture over the dry mix and toss gently but thoroughly to coat evenly.
  5. Fold in dried cranberries and coconut flakes if using.
  6. Spread the coated snack mix evenly on a baking sheet or tray and let sit uncovered at room temperature for about 10 minutes to set the seasoning.
  7. Transfer the cooled mix to an airtight container or zip-top bag for storage or serving.

Notes

Ensure all nuts and cereals are completely dry before mixing to maintain crunch. Pour olive oil seasoning slowly to avoid greasiness. Store in airtight containers away from humidity. For a quick refresh, toast mix in oven at 300°F for 5 minutes.
