A quick and easy breakfast bowl combining creamy oats, rich melted dark chocolate, and fresh strawberries for a decadent yet wholesome start to your day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ cup old-fashioned rolled oats (45g)
  • 1 cup milk of choice (240ml) – whole milk, almond, or oat milk
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¼ cup dark chocolate chips or chopped dark chocolate (45g)
  • ½ cup fresh strawberries, hulled and halved
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional toppings: sliced almonds, chia seeds, shredded coconut

Instructions

  1. Combine oats, milk, and salt in a small saucepan. Place over medium heat and bring to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally for 3–5 minutes.
  2. Add cocoa powder and stir vigorously until fully incorporated and the mixture darkens.
  3. Cook oats gently for 5–7 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds until tender and creamy.
  4. Remove saucepan from heat and stir in dark chocolate chips until melted and smooth.
  5. Mix in honey or maple syrup and vanilla extract. Taste and adjust sweetness as needed.
  6. Transfer the oatmeal to a serving bowl and let it sit for a minute to thicken slightly.
  7. Top with fresh strawberries and optional toppings like sliced almonds, chia seeds, or shredded coconut.
  8. Serve immediately while warm. Reheat gently if needed, stirring in a splash of milk to loosen.

Notes

Use rolled oats for best texture; avoid instant oats. Stir constantly to prevent burning. Remove from heat before adding chocolate chips to melt smoothly. Fresh strawberries are best added just before serving or after reheating leftovers.
