A quick and easy seven layer dip served in individual Mason jars, perfect for parties and casual gatherings. Layers of beans, guacamole, sour cream, salsa, cheese, olives, and fresh veggies create a colorful and flavorful snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup refried beans (about 240 ml), smooth style
  • 1 cup guacamole (240 ml), homemade or store-bought
  • 1/2 cup sour cream (120 ml), plain, full-fat
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice (15 ml), freshly squeezed
  • 1 cup salsa (240 ml), medium heat
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (about 100 grams), mix of sharp cheddar and pepper jack
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives (about 35 grams)
  • 2 stalks green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes (120 ml), drained
  • 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro (optional)
  • Optional add-ins: jalapeño slices, corn kernels, diced red bell pepper

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine sour cream and lime juice. Stir until smooth and set aside.
  2. Chop diced tomatoes, green onions, and cilantro. Drain excess liquid from tomatoes.
  3. Spoon refried beans evenly into the bottom of each Mason jar and smooth the layer flat.
  4. Layer guacamole over the beans, spreading gently to maintain distinct layers.
  5. Spoon the lime-infused sour cream on next, about 2 tablespoons per jar, smoothing evenly.
  6. Add salsa over the sour cream layer, spreading gently without breaking layers below.
  7. Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly on top of the salsa.
  8. Top with sliced black olives, chopped green onions, diced tomatoes, and optional cilantro.
  9. Seal Mason jar lids and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow flavors to meld before serving.

Notes

Keep ingredients chilled to maintain distinct layers. Drain excess moisture from tomatoes and salsa to prevent sogginess. Use a small spoon or offset spatula to layer gently. Prepare up to 24 hours in advance and keep refrigerated. For a warm version, bake assembled dip in an oven-safe dish at 350°F for 15 minutes and broil cheese until bubbly.
