A creamy, garlicky twist on classic sloppy joes, featuring Alfredo sauce and tender chicken served on toasted buns. Perfect for quick and comforting weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded (rotisserie chicken recommended)
  • 1 cup Alfredo sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced or grated
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, freshly grated
  • 4 hamburger buns (brioche buns recommended)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional garnish: Fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a skillet over medium heat. Slice the hamburger buns in half and place them cut-side down in the skillet. Toast until golden and slightly crisp, about 2-3 minutes. Set aside.
  2. If using rotisserie chicken, shred it into bite-sized pieces. If cooking fresh chicken, season with salt and pepper, cook in a skillet until fully done (about 7-10 minutes), and shred once cool.
  3. In the same skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  4. Lower the heat and stir in your Alfredo sauce. Mix well to combine the garlic with the sauce.
  5. Add the shredded chicken to the skillet and stir until fully coated in the Alfredo sauce. Heat for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is warmed through.
  6. Spoon the chicken Alfredo mixture generously onto the bottom half of each toasted bun. Top with freshly grated Parmesan cheese and a sprinkle of parsley, if using. Place the top half of the bun over the filling.
  7. Serve immediately while hot. Enjoy with a side salad or your favorite veggies!

Notes

[‘Toast the buns to prevent sogginess and add texture.’, ‘Use freshly grated Parmesan for better flavor and melting.’, ‘Adjust the Alfredo sauce seasoning to your preference.’, “Thin the Alfredo sauce with milk or chicken broth if it’s too thick.”, ‘Keep the chicken Alfredo mixture warm in a slow cooker for parties.’]
