A crisp, refreshing green beer recipe perfect for St. Patrick’s Day, made with light beer, natural green coloring, and a hint of lime for a balanced and festive sip.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz (355 ml) light beer (lager or pilsner, e.g., Corona or Heineken)
  • 23 drops natural green food coloring (spirulina extract or matcha powder mixed with water)
  • 1 tsp fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 tsp simple syrup (optional)
  • 23 ice cubes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Chill your beer and glass for about 45 minutes.
  2. In a small bowl, mix 2-3 drops of natural green food coloring or 1/4 tsp matcha powder with 1 tsp water until smooth.
  3. Add 1 tsp fresh lime juice and 1/2 tsp simple syrup (if using) to the green mixture and stir gently.
  4. Slowly pour 12 oz of chilled light beer into the glass to avoid excess foam.
  5. Carefully add the green lime mixture to the beer and stir gently once or twice.
  6. Optionally, add 2-3 ice cubes for extra coldness, but be aware it may dilute the flavor.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy.

Notes

Use natural green coloring like spirulina or matcha for best flavor and authentic color. Pour beer slowly to avoid excess foam. Stir gently to preserve carbonation. Fresh lime juice is preferred over bottled for brightness. Optional simple syrup balances tartness. Ice cubes may dilute flavor.
