  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar or lemon juice
  • Optional: 1/4 teaspoon chili flakes

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together brown sugar, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, olive oil, and apple cider vinegar or lemon juice. Add chili flakes if desired.
  3. Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  4. Place the chicken breasts in an oven-safe baking dish and brush the brown sugar glaze generously over each breast, covering all sides.
  5. Bake for 20-25 minutes. About halfway through (around 12 minutes), spoon some glaze from the bottom of the dish back over the chicken to keep it sticky and crispy.
  6. Check doneness using a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C), or cut into the thickest part to check that juices run clear.
  7. Optional: Broil for the last 2-3 minutes for an extra crispy finish, watching closely to avoid burning.
  8. Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes covered loosely with foil before serving.
